Will Reeve’s Speaking Engagement In Casper, Wyoming

For many of us oldsters, when we think of Superman, there’s really only one that comes to mind, and that’s the original movie Superman, Christopher Reeve. He instilled the values of truth, justice, and the American way into our mindset, and for many, he was the reason behind an admiration of superheroes.

Through the late 70s and 80s, and into the 90s, Reeve was our Superman.

In 1992, Christopher and his wife, actress Dana Reeve, welcomed a son named Will to the world. Just a few short years later, Christopher was involved in a life-changing accident while riding a horse and was paralyzed from the neck down.

When the accident happened, Will was just three years old, but he was able to spend the next few years of his life learning the values, kindness, and generosity that his parents had been known for.

Christopher passed away in 2004, and his wife Dana passed away just one and a half years later after a battle with cancer, leaving Will to live with other family and friends.

Through the time he spent with his parents, he saw the work and dedication they put in as advocates for spinal cord injury research and those living with spinal cord injuries, and fortunately, the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

Will Reeve is a journalist, actor, producer, and director. His journalism work includes being a news correspondent for ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight.” His acting roles include a cameo in the latest installment of Superman (a full circle moment), and his directing credits include an ode to his father in “Finding My Father.”

In the documentary style of film, Will retraced the footsteps of his father, Christopher, as he followed the migration of the Pacific gray whale. This would end up being his final piece of work before the accident that left him paralyzed.

Will and his siblings, Mathew and Alexandra, continue to serve on the Board of Directors of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation to continue the education, research, and advocacy of those with spinal cord injuries.

Not to continue to add to Will’s allure, but he’s also an ambassador and advocate for the Boys and Girls Club, where he says his parents took him for swimming lessons when he was as young as two years old.

His relationship with the club didn’t end there; he spent many days after school and on weekends playing sports at the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester, just North of New York City.

On September 17, Will will be the featured speaker at the Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming’s Award and Recognition Breakfast at the Ford Wyoming Center.

Needless to say, Will’s parents would be proud of the Super Man that he’s become.

I was able to have a conversation with Will, where we discussed his relationship and admiration for the Boys and Girls Club, as well as his life and career.

You can give that conversation a listen.
